Manny Machado remains a free agent as spring training draws near, which means Miguel Andujar is that much closer to being the Yankees’ third baseman again.
Though Machado’s presence would have certainly meant a role change for Andujar, last year’s AL Rookie of the Year runner-up said he would welcome Machado if he wound up in The Bronx.
Asked if he had been anxious this offseason about the Yankees’ potentially signing the All-Star shortstop, who conceivably would have moved to third upon the return of Didi Gregorius, Andujar chuckled.
“Not at all,’’ Andujar said through a translator.
