Mets ace Matt Harvey gets best of Yankees' Alex Rodriguez

The last out Matt Harvey recorded at Yankee Stadium was the result of a blazing 98 mph fastball that Alex Rodriguez couldn’t touch. So instead of A-Rod possibly tying Willie Mays’ home run mark on Saturday, his performance against the Mets ace was in some ways the hitting equivalent of an aging Mays tripping over himself in the outfield.

“Wow,” Rodriguez said of Harvey. “I mean, as good as advertised. No doubt about it.”

The most anticipated matchup in the Subway Series since Roger Clemens threw a shattered bat at Mike Piazza in the 2000 World Series was as anticlimactic as Shawn Estes throwing a fastball behind the Rocket at Shea Stadium two years later.
