There's been lots of hand-wringing about the Yankee pitching lately, and you can certainly see why, after Ivan Nova’s awful performance Tuesday night in a 15-1 loss to the Astros at the Stadium.
But there’s another looming problem for the Yanks that has nothing to do with CC Sabathia’s injury or Masahiro Tanaka’s inability to morph back into the dominant ace he was for half a season last year.
It’s the offense. The club’s real issue the rest of the year might be what we all were wondering about heading into the season — aging hitters. While Alex Rodriguez has defied expectations in his return from his drug suspension and guys such as Mark Teixeira, Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran have all bounced back the way the Yanks craved, the offense is sagging right now, putting up at least as many red flags as the arms have.
