NEW YORK -- It was looking like Yankees designated hitter Matt Holliday's days of being an impact player were over.
As good as this seven-time All-Star was from Opening Day through mid-June, Holliday's last 2 1/2 months have been nothing but misery.
Most of the time Holliday was on the disabled list, first with a mysterious virus issue and then with a strained back, and when healthy the 37-year-old wasn't hitting a lick.
At long last ... welcome back!
Finally feeling good again, Holliday celebrated his return to the Yankees' lineup on Saturday by hitting a tie-breaking, three-run homer in the sixth inning of a 5-1 win over the Boston Red Sox.
