Mason Williams rewriting prospect story with Yankees

Outfielder Mason Williams was ranked by Baseball America as the Yankees' No. 1 prospect entering the 2013 season. Entering 2015 he'd dropped to No. 30.

It might be time to redo the re-evaluation.

A resurgent Williams has taken the minors by storm this season, adding another three-hit night to his resume with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre during Monday's 5-3 loss to Pawtucket.

Williams, 23, went 3-for-3 with a double and a stolen base, the latest standout game in a sterling season.

Whether it was the challenge of battling perception or simply a maturing approach, Williams' 2015 has shown why most evaluators had the centerfielder ticketed for the Bronx.
