Masahiro Tanaka vows to ‘come back strong’ after shaky outing

When Masahiro Tanaka walked off the mound in the sixth inning the right-hander was in line for a third straight victory. Nevertheless, Eduardo Nunez’s sacrifice fly tied the score, 4-4, and drowned Tanaka’s opportunity for a win.

While acknowledging the Yankees’ eight-game winning streak and wins in 17 of their last 18, Tanaka said there is room for personal improvement.

“Obviously, we are doing something special here,’’ said Tanaka, who gave up four runs and a season-high eight hits in 5 ¹/u2083 innings in the Yankees’ 9-6 win over the Red Sox Wednesday night at the Stadium.
