When the Yankees’ Masahiro Tanaka and Gary Sanchez are in the clubhouse doing interviews, each has an interpreter, one for Japanese and the other for Spanish.
That prompted an interesting question: When Tanaka and Sanchez meet on the mound, what language do they speak?
Tanaka did not wait for his interpreter to answer.
“English,” he said — in English — with a laugh.
There seems to be little these days that can foil the Yankees, particularly Tanaka, their ace pitcher, and Sanchez, their precocious rookie catcher, who continue to plow through opponents as if they were language barriers.
