Mark Teixeira blasts 2 homers as Yankees stave off A’s

From the first day of spring training, Mark Teixeira vowed if he remained healthy the switch-hitting first baseman would return to being a middle of the order presence in the Yankees’ lineup.

Following three seasons in which injuries kept him off the field and marginalized his ability, Teixeira was looking forward to a season with nothing more than the normal aches and pains.

A little over halfway into the schedule, Teixeira’s vow has a lot of merit.

Leadoff homers in the fourth and sixth innings by the cleanup hitter carried the Yankees to a 5-4 victory over the A’s Wednesday night in front of 41,626 at Yankee Stadium.
