Add another save to the record. And add a first home run.
It was, mostly, just how fans remembered it Sunday at Yankee Stadium — “Enter Sandman” playing, the crowd roaring for No. 42, Mariano Rivera coming on to record a save in pinstripes, still looking as if he had a little something left in the tank.
And then there was the reminder it was, in fact, Old-Timers’ Day — Rivera walking up to the plate to crack an inside-the-park home run after patrolling center field and making a nice running catch.
“I had a lot of great moments in baseball, but my greatest moment in baseball was just wearing this uniform,” said Rivera, a first-time Old-Timer.
