BALTIMORE — Before Luke Voit snapped out of his mini-slump on Thursday, Yankees hitting coach Marcus Thames said he wasn’t concerned about the first baseman having gone hitless in three straight games or 2-for-18 since Opening Day.
“It’s five games into the season,” Thames said before Voit’s three-run homer helped seal the Yankees’ win over Baltimore. “I’m not worried about him. He’s got a good swing. He’s just trying to do too much. He’s pulling off everything and that’s not him. He just has to get back to hitting to the middle of the field. I talk to him about just being himself.
