Hit the ball out of the ballpark, draw long counts, get quality starting pitching, and turn it over to the bullpen; this is the blueprint for the New York Yankees in 2019 and it was out in full force in their 7-2 Opening Day victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
It started early in this one with Luke Voit setting the tone for the day right out of the gate. Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton singled to give New York runners on the corner and Voit to the plate.
Voit would go on to do what he and the Yankees do best crushing one to center and an early 3-0 lead.
