Luke Voit, Yankees rave about 2-homer night that should worry Greg Bird

BALTIMORE — That energy that Pedro Martinez has been saying the Yankees lack on his MLB Network commentaries returned Friday night at Oriole Park.

No one ever would have guessed the guy who gave the Yankees a couple of much-needed jolts and led them to a comeback win over those pesky Baltimore Orioles.

This 7-5, 10-inning win was the Luke Voit Show, and there most certainly will be sequel opportunities after this new unproven slugger hit two homers playing first base ahead of slumping-yet-again regular Greg Bird.

As giddy as Voit looked running the bases after his game-tying two-run shot in the fourth and his insurance-providing, two-run dinger in the 10th, his new Yankees teammates seemed just as fired up.
