The Yankees have dealt with a seemingly infinite number of injuries in 2019. The night before the trade deadline didn’t spare the club from the injury bug. For the second time in 30 days, first baseman Luke Voit was removed partway through a game with an apparent game.
Voit exited after appearing to be in pain following a swing in tonight’s game against the Diamondbacks. We don’t speculate on injuries, but both Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton have hurt themselves on swings this year.
Gio Urshela took over at first for Voit, and that in and of itself was notable as you would have expected DJ LeMahieu to come off the bench to fill in.
