Luis Severino and the Yankees toyed with the Blue Jays on Sunday, winning their final regular-season home game easily, 8-3.
The real test for the right-hander will come in the playoffs.
But Severino’s first two outings after missing nearly the entire season due to right rotator cuff inflammation followed by a lat strain have given the Yankees more hope that he’s pretty much himself.
The right-hander overmatched Toronto for five innings on Sunday, allowing just three singles and a hit batsman in his 80-pitch outing.
He consistently reached the high-90s with his fastball and the Blue Jays didn’t get a runner into scoring position with Severino on the mound.
