Luis Severino leads Yankees to another win over woeful Braves

ATLANTA — If the Yankees catch the soaring Blue Jays it might be a child who leads them to the AL East crown.

With the Blue Jays decisive win over the Tigers impossible to ignore on the scoreboard atop Turner Field Saturday night the Yankees needed a victory over the Braves to keep pace.

Thanks to Luis Severino they turned back the woeful Braves, 3-1, in front of 49,243. The victory kept the Yankees 1 ½ lengths behind the Blue Jays, who have won nine of 11.

But their was a pall cast over the win as a male fan fell from the upper deck into the field-level section behind home plate as Alex Rodriguez was being announced as a pinch-hitter and heavily booed in the seventh inning.
