Finally, the Yankees have formalized their plans to join the majority of teams that have expanded netting to protect fans from smashed foul balls and flying bats.
The team released an image showing where the netting will be and explained their decision in a press release on Wednesday.
Several incidents over the years have left fans hurt and bloodied in the Bronx. But last year, when a 2-year-old girl was struck in the face by Todd Frazier's line drive, calls for the Yankees to expand netting around Yankee Stadium grew to a fever pitch.
