FORT MYERS, Fla. -- It was fairly easy to figure out Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez' off days last season. Almost every time left-hander Jordan Montgomery started, 20 of 29 as a matter of fact, backup catcher Austin Romine was in Joe Girardi's lineup.
Nothing changed Thursday at Century Links Sports Complex with Montgomery starting and Romine behind the plate with new manager Aaron Boone making up the lineup for a 2-1 Yankees win over the Minnesota Twins.
This personal-catcher thing won't be continuing into the regular season again even though Montgomery was way better last year with Romine catching and very good throwing to him Thursday in a one-run, six-inning outing.
