NEW YORK -- Yankees manager Joe Girardi has been trying not to think about the big bats that will be joining baseball's hottest ballclub at some point.
Somehow the Yankees went into Tuesday night's game against the Chicago White Sox riding an eight-game winning streak with no contributions from shortstop Didi Gregorius and catcher Gary Sanchez.
Slowly but surely, both are progressing from their injuries, a shoulder strain for Gregorius that occurred in a World Baseball Classic game and a right bicep strain for Sanchez that occurred in an April 8 loss in Baltimore.
