Yogi Berra, who passed away Tuesday night at the age of 90, was honored by the Yankees with a 10-minute ceremony prior to Thursday night’s game at the Stadium.
Following some opening words by public address announcer Paul Olden, a two-minute video was shown featuring highlights of Berra’s Hall of Fame career. All flags at the Stadium were lowered to half-staff.
The crowd – much of which was starting to filter into the seats – was asked to rise and move their caps as the color guard from Navy Operation Support Center New York City presented the colors.
