Kendrys Morales the latest Yankee to succumb to injury bug

The injury bug has crept its way back to the Bronx.

The Yankees placed DH and first baseman Kendrys Morales on the 10-day IL with a strained left calf, recalling outfielder Mike Tauchman from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to fill his roster spot.

Morales had struggled since arriving from the Athletics, slashing .177/.320/.242 through 75 plate appearances with the Yankees. Before his trip to the IL, his roster spot was in jeopardy with the return of shortstop Didi Gregorius, but the Yankees instead opted to move Troy Tulowitzki to the 60-day IL.

The Yankees have been ravaged with injuries in 2019, as Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Dellin Betances, Luis Severino and Troy Tulowitzki have been sidelined since the beginning of the season with major injuries.
