Just how stingy the Yankees were with their playoff shares

The Yankees not only fell short in the playoffs, they also fell short when it came to playoff shares.

As The Post’s George A. King III reported earlier this month, players voted during a late-season meeting to cut back the number of shares they would hand out.

According to the Commissioner’s Office on Monday, the World Series champion Red Sox voted 66 full shares, each worth $416,838.

The Yankees, by contrast, voted just 45 full shares of $43,082 — twelve less than the next fewest shares this year. They also voted on 21.470 partial shares and two cash awards.
