The losing streak is now at three, as Andy Pettitte and the Yankees dropped the second of four against the lowly Brewers by a score of 7-5.
Once again, the starting pitching did the Yankees in early. Pettitte allowed six runs over the first two innings, but then settled down enough to go seven in order to give the bullpen a much needed rest.
The Yankees got on the board in the fifth when Paul O’Neill singled home Derek Jeter. The Yankees would eventually cut the lead to 6-4 on a Bernie Williams three-run homer, but a Wade Boggs throwing error lead to an unearned run for the Brewers in the seventh to push their lead to 7-4.
