The former Yankees manager weighed in on the Manny Machado debate, expressing to NJ Advance Media the financial concerns of attaching yourself to a player — even a superstar — for such a long time and for hundreds of millions of dollars.
Girardi did not get into the other worries associated with Machado — the admittedly suspect hustle that has made him so polarizing — but he pointed out there are a lot of ways for the Yankees to spend their money this offseason.
