Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and manager Joe Girardi are each heading into the final years of their contracts, and Wednesday, Cashman said the manager did “everything in his power to win with whatever was given.”
Cashman, during his season-ending press conference in The Bronx, wasn’t exactly effusive in his praise for Girardi after an 84-win season that ended with the Yankees missing the playoffs for the third time in four years.
“Even though that roster dramatically changed moving forward, he didn’t,’’ Cashman said of the overhaul the team underwent at the trade deadline. “He approached every game to the best of his ability to try to win, just as he did in the first half.
