PHOENIX — Joe Girardi doesn’t believe Alex Rodriguez will be ready to come off the disabled list Thursday night against the A’s in Oakland, Calif.
“He is not going to be ready on Thursday. He still has some hurdles to cross and get by, and he is not by them yet,’’ Girardi said of the DH, who took batting practice on the field and ran in the outfield prior to Tuesday night’s 5-3 loss to the Diamondbacks. “He really hasn’t had a setback. We were hoping for 15 days, but it will be more than that.’’
Girardi anticipated Rodriguez will return “sometime in Oakland,’’ where the Yankees will play a four-game series.
