Jim Kaat: Yanks’ strength may become weakness if they’re not careful

The Blue Jays are hoping to do in The Bronx this weekend what the Mets did in Queens a week ago.

The Mets — buoyed by a slew of deadline deals — swept the Nationals and have wrestled away control of the NL East from their longtime antagonists. The Blue Jays set their sights on a playoff spot with the shocking acquisitions of David Price and Troy Tulowitzki, and heading into Thursday night’s play had shaved the Yankees lead from 8 games to 4 ½ since landing the star shortstop last week.

Some, including ESPN’s Curt Schilling, have predicted the Blue Jays will now pass the Yankees to take the AL East, though, longtime Yankees announcer Jim Kaat, who now calls occasional games for MLB Network, still sees a noticeable hole.
