Japanese star Yankees covet takes major step toward MLB

Japanese superstar and Yankees target Shohei Otani is a sure thing to make the jump to Major League Baseball. The only question has been: sooner or later?

Now, it looks like we may have our answer.

Otani and his team have begun to interview prospective agents, according to FanRag Sports, a major step in the process of moving to MLB.

By the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the 23-year-old Otanti will be under a strict cap on how much he can be paid on his first big league deal. If he were to wait to turn 25, the difference could be as high as hundreds of millions of dollars.
