Jacoby Ellsbury is not in the Yankees' lineup for the Subway Series finale after leaving Saturday's loss to the Mets in the eighth inning with a tight hip.
"He was better today and he was going to try it, but I sort of shut him down," Joe Girardi said before the game. "I was going to give him a day off anyway in the next four days.
"But I think it's kind of silly if you have to leave the game in the middle, so I shut him down and hopefully he'll be in there (Monday)."
The $153 million center fielder, who is tied for fourth in the AL with 14 runs scored, missed time in spring training with an oblique injury.
