Jacoby Ellsbury Heads To DL With Right Knee Sprain

WASHINGTON (CBSNewYork/AP) — New York Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury is heading to the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right knee after getting injured Tuesday night during an 8-6, 10-inning loss to the Washington Nationals.

The Yankees said that outfielder Slade Heathcott would be called up from Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday. Heathcott will be selected to the 40-man roster, requiring another move to make room there.

“If we are going to lose him for some time, somebody’s got to step up,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. “That’s the bottom line. It’s part of the game.
