CHICAGO — J.A. Happ was cruising to a second straight start that wasn’t going to require the Yankees’ bullpen to go near the middle innings and appeared to be ready to match his season-high of seven innings, or even work deeper.
The first three frames were almost flawless and he navigated around a bases-loaded jam in the fourth. Then, armed with a four-run lead, Happ inexplicably fell apart in the fifth, when the White Sox scored four runs.
