J.A. Happ has hand, foot and mouth disease in Yankees stunner

What is Happ-ening?

A little over a week after the Mets’ Noah Syndergaard was placed on the disabled list with hand, foot and mouth disease, the Yankees sent J.A. Happ home Tuesday due to his contracting the same illness.

This may mean the newly acquired lefty won’t be able to pitch in Boston next weekend; it was believed he would start Saturday, and the Yankees traded for him in large part because of his effectiveness against the Red Sox.

Happ, in his first start since coming over from Toronto, pitched well against Kansas City, throwing six innings of one-run ball Sunday.
