Ivan Nova may rejoin Yankees after next rehab start

There is a chance Ivan Nova will need one more minor league rehab start (which would be his second) before coming off the disabled list and joining the Yankees’ starting rotation.

Nova, who had Tommy John surgery in April 2014, started for Single-A Tampa on Monday night. In 4 ²/u2083 innings at Jupiter, Nova allowed an earned run, three hits, fanned three and didn’t issue a walk. He threw 73 pitches, 55 of which were strikes.

“You want him over 85 [pitches],’’ Girardi said when asked if it was possible Nova will join the Yankees after pitching for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
