NEW YORK -- Because the Yankees got the ball back from rookie second baseman Gleyber Torres' first career home run, he'll be able to show it to family and friends the rest of his life.
Whether that would happen was in doubt for a bit, though.
The Yankees negotiated a deal to get Torres' ball while they beat the Indians, 7-6, at Yankee Stadium on Friday night.
Torres, the Yankees' 21-year-old top prospect, didn't exactly have to give up much -- just an autographed bat, personalized autographed ball and a few moments of his time meeting with the woman who caught it.
