Joba Chamberlain and Cleveland will always be linked because of the cloud of midges that swarmed him on the mound during the Indians-Yankees playoffs series in 2007. Now the fireballing righty is part of the team.
The Indians announced they’ve given Chamberlain a minor-league contract and an invitation to big-league camp, which means he’s got a chance to land a job in their bullpen. The Tribe also gave him something else – an apology via social media.
It sparked an amusing exchange between the official Twitter accounts of the Indians and the Bronx Bombers that recalls that buggy night in Game 2 of the American League division series.
