Yankees designate Chance Adams for assignment to create room on the 40-man roster for Gerrit Cole.
He was once a jewel of the organization, with a 2.89 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 103 strikeouts in 115 AAA innings during 2017. He would then have elbow surgery and has since struggled. Adams had 13 MLB appearances last season, giving up 24 runs in 25 innings.
This may not be the end of his Yankees career, however, as he could clear waivers and be sent back to AAA.
