DENVER — The Yankees wanted Ike Davis in the offseason. But Davis chose the Rangers instead.
Now, the Yankees have him, giving him a one-year, $1.5-million major-league deal. His first day with the team was Tuesday, when the Yankees started a two-game series with the Rockies at Coors Field.
Davis will play lefty-hitting compliment to righty Rob Refsnyder at first base, a position where the Yankees desperately need help after seeing Mark Teixeria (torn knee cartilage), Dustin Ackley (torn shoulder labrum), Chris Parmelee (hamstring strain) and Greg Bird (torn shoulder labrum) each go down with serious injuries.
