Ike Davis’ dad makes the case for Ike Davis: It’s his time

Ron Davis wasn’t making any predictions, but he believes his son, Ike, is finally healthy after hip problems contributed to short stints with the A’s and Pirates and determined to prove he’s still good enough to be an everyday major league first baseman.

“It’s time for him to [produce],” the 60-year-old former Yankees reliever said in a phone interview on Monday, shortly before the Yankees made the signing of former Mets first baseman Ike Davis official. “He’s healthy. I think he’s ready to do it. We got our fingers crossed that happens for him.

“He can show he can play.
