If Yankees-Nick Swisher isn't happening now, don't expect it ever

TORONTO — Dustin Ackley won't return to the Yankees in 2016 and he might not ever.

Doctors have decided the utility man needs season-ending surgery to repair a torn right shoulder labrum. It's likely the Yankees will non-tender him in the offseason.

Ackley suffered the injury sliding back into first base during a pick-off try on Sunday in Tampa Bay. He was hitting .148 but able to spell Mark Teixeira at first base, Starlin Castro at second base and play the corner outfield spots.
