SEATTLE — Luis Severino’s next step on what has been a long trip to his first taste of the big leagues this year will be Sunday when he pitches at home for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Because of Hurricane Dorian likely hitting Florida, Severino’s first game on a minor league rehab assignment was shifted to Double-A Trenton then moved to SWB. The shift didn’t have anything to do with the Yankees wanting Severino to face Triple-A hitters instead of Double-A batters.
“Feel better about that mound,’’ Aaron Boone said of the switch.
Severino went down in spring training with an inflamed right rotator cuff and suffered a lat muscle problem while working back from the original injury.
