The three-year, $105.3 million contract with two opt-outs that shortstop Carlos Correa signed with the Minnesota Twins raises an inevitable question: Why didn’t the Yankees do that? The optics of the missed opportunity are made worse by the trade the Yankees made with the Twins less than a week earlier that sent third baseman Gio Urshela and catcher Gary Sánchez to Minnesota in exchange for third baseman Josh Donaldson, shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa and catcher Ben Rortvedt.
