ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Most Yankees had heard the news that they’re best-in-baseball bullpen is on the verge of getting another star.
During the late innings of the Yankees’ 4-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night, some of their relievers excitedly talked about the news that two-time All-Star Zach Britton is joining them in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles.
The Yankees announced the trade shortly before midnight.
The Yankees are giving up three minor-league pitchers for Britton, but they retained their top eight prospects (according to MLB Pipeline rankings) in giving up Triple-A left-hander Josh Rogers, Triple-A right-handed reliever Cody Carroll and Double-A right-hander Dillon Tate.
