CLEVELAND -- There's a path to the majors -- and toward being an impact arm when he gets there -- for Yankees top pitching prospect Justus Sheffield in the second half.
"We're doing everything we can to try to help him along," Vice President of Baseball Operations Tim Naehring said before the Yankees' 5-2 loss to the Indians at Progressive Field on Sunday. "There's a plan in place. He knows what it is. Just a matter of stringing innings together that would warrant a call-up."
Stanton talks nearly making huge HR grab
Ideally for the Yankees, Sheffield -- a 22-year-old lefty -- would prove himself worthy of a rotation spot, and soon, considering the Yankees serious need for starting pitching.
