TAMPA -- Shortstop prospect extraordinaire Gleyber Torres' beyond-his-years maturity came up again Wednesday during Joe Girardi's pre-game talk with reporters in the Yankees dugout at Steinbrenner Field.
Girardi initially was asked if Torres playing and talking like he's a lot older than 20 can be an asset in his accent up the organization's minor-league ladder.
"I definitely think so because I think maturity allows you to repeat good swings, repeat your (hitting) mechanics," Girardi said. "I think you're really aware of what your body is and what you need to do. You can think quicker on your feet a lot of times.
