How Yankees' Gleyber Torres matched Alfonso Soriano's No. 9 spot greatness

NEW YORK -- In 2001, then-rookie Alfonso Soriano hit 11 home runs out of the No. 9 spot, a single-season team record.

Soriano went on to hit 18 bombs as the Yankees raced away with the American League East crown before losing in the World Series to the Diamondbacks in a heartbreaking Game 7.

On Saturday, rookie second baseman Gleyber Torres matched Soriano -- who went on to have a pretty nice career, by the way -- in the Yankees' 4-3 win over the Mets at Citi Field.
