TAMPA -- Aaron Boone didn't keep the scorecard.
The Yankees' manager -- new to the team, new to coaching in general -- didn't consider his team's 3-1 win over the Tigers in their spring training opener at George M. Steinbrenner Field his true debut.
That will come in Toronto on March 29 -- the Yankees' Opening Day.
Still, Friday was pretty cool, Boone thought.
"All in all," he said, "pretty good."
Boone, 44, for the first time since 2009, when he retired as a member of the Nationals, sat in a big-league dugout in uniform.
