CHICAGO — He wasn’t a member of the heralded haul general manager Brian Cashman received from the Indians and Cubs at last year’s trade deadline, but that doesn’t mean the Yankees haven’t always thought highly of Tyler Wade.
Tuesday, four years after being a fourth-round pick out of Murrieta Valley High School in Murrieta, Calif., Wade arrived in the big leagues when he was summoned from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to join the Yankees in time for their night game against the White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Wade’s promotion to the big leagues came about Monday night when second baseman Starlin Castro suffered a Grade 1 strain of his right hamstring running out a ground ball in the third inning of a 6-5 Yankees victory.
