Mark Teixeira still hasn’t begun baseball activities as he attempts to avoid surgery to repair torn cartilage in his right knee. Chris Parmelee is out for at least a month with a hamstring injury and Dustin Ackley won’t be back this season.
So that leaves Rob Refsnyder as the Yankees’ starting first baseman — at least for the foreseeable future.
“He’s gonna be our everyday first baseman,” manager Joe Girardi said before the Yankees faced the Tigers in The Bronx on Friday night. “That’s the plan right now.”
This season, nothing has gone according to plan at that position for the Yankees.
