Back on May 28, the New York Yankees decided to jump-start super prospect Luis Severino’s young career.
In only two short seasons, the 21-year old pitcher skyrocketed from rookie ball all the way to Double-A Trenton, from 2012-2014. After pitching in only four games to start the 2015 season, the Yankees believed Severino needed better competition than what AA had to offer; so his call to Triple-A wasn’t only expected, but it was a welcoming sight to both the organization and fans alike.
Sure, the team had young pitching phenoms-remember Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy and Manny Banuelos?
