TAMPA — CC Sabathia has worked 3,168 big league innings and another 201 in the postseason, so two frames in his first game of spring training barely registers a blip on the Yankees’ radar.
By the time Sabathia makes his regular-season debut on April 4 or 5 against the Rays in St. Petersburg, Fla., nobody will remember his two-inning stint against the same team Tuesday at George M. Steinbrenner Field that was part of a 7-6 Yankees victory in 10 innings.
Brought along slowly at the start of camp because he was coming off arthroscopic surgery on the right knee, Sabathia threw two scoreless frames in front of friend and mentor Andy Pettitte.
