DETROIT -- Yankees center fielder Aaron Hicks put an exclamation point on his first extra-base hit of the season, sliding headfirst into home plate with a two-run inside-the-park home run in the second inning of Friday night's series opener against the Tigers at Comerica Park.
Hicks' drive, off righty Mike Fiers, caromed off the base of the right-center-field wall, eluding center fielder Leonys Martin and giving Gary Sanchez and Hicks time to score.
Shohei Ohtani is creeping his way up the batting order.
